Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a NPD Technologist working with a dedicated and innovative NPD Manager from product concept to launch.
Collaborating with the Production, Technical and Procurement departments to deliver projects on time to the highest possible standards for our customers. This is an all encompassing role from receiving and interpreting customer brief, developing a range of new products through to presenting to customers and scaling to factory trial.
- Ensuring compliance with the HACCP system and monitoring procedures, which control the Critical Control Points and Quality Control Points, identified by HACCP.
- Have a hands on approach to kitchen work within the NPD remit.
- Be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business, including the occasional early morning starts when required for trials/launches.
- Initiating the control and documentation of Product Development activities, including factory trials and shelf-life testing.
- Conducting sensory panel analysis.
- Ensuring effective teamwork between technical and operational teams.
- Ensuring appropriate documentation and filing of NPD recipe changes or samples.
- Formulate commercially viable product recipes to comply with agreed specifications.
- Assist in the smooth transfer of products from kitchen and factory trials and introducing new products into full scale manufacturing.
- Assisting with the planning and execution of production trials in conjunction with NPD, Production and Technical teams.
The successful candidate will have:
· A BSc/MSc food science/nutrition degree or similar.
· At least 1 years' experience in NPD in foods or FMCG (desirable).
· A strong creative flair, with an interest in working with new product concepts and development projects.
· Be highly motivated, able to plan their own work schedule, working alone or as part of a team.
· Good self-organisational and time-management skills.
· Preferably have experience in the baby food market, drinks, and soups, but not essential.
· Must possess a strong passion for food, be a creative self-starter and have excellent relationship building skills.
· Be able to play an active role in developing critical paths for recipe/product development areas.
· Be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business.
· Be computer literate.
Ability to demonstrate right to work in the UK essential.
